SgtEricHolke.jpg This site is dedicated to my Son Sgt. Eric Morgon Holke U.S. Army. He died on a combat mission near Tallil, Iraq on July 15,2007 while serving as the gunner on a Humvee.

Eric was denied a Purple Heart, as his death was ruled an accident even though he was on a combat mission. His unit was not actively engaging the enemy at the time his Humvee rolled. I was appalled to learn the U.S. Military does not see fit to honor those in our Military who gave their lives severing in a war zone because they were not killed by the enemy or our own Military in one of their infamous "oops" moments.

251 personnel have been killed in helicopter crashes and 19 in fixed-wing aircraft crashes. 114 helicopters and 20 fixed-wing aircraft have been lost in Iraq since the 2003 invasion. Only 41 of the crashes have been attributed to hostile fire. Mechanical problems, engine failure and sand storms caused the majority of the crashes killing U.S. Military personnel. They were following orders; faithfully trying to fulfill their assigned duties and died in the line of duty to me this is no different than if they had been killed by the enemy or by friendly fire.

There have been over 337 Humvee rollovers accidents killing 70 percent U.S. troops in the Humvees. Additionally U.S. Troops have been drown when the weight of their Humvee collapsed a bridge they were ordered to cross. These men and women were on their way to engage in combat, returning from combat or on combat missions, but not engaging the enemy the time of their deaths. It is unconscionable these members of our Military who died defending our country and were not honored with a Purple Heart for paying the ultimate price for our freedom, their lives.

Its time for that to change. Contact the President, the Vice President, the Secretary of Defense, your Congressman and your Senator at let them know this grievous error needs to be corrected. All the members of our Military are volunteers they deserve to be honored because they paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

I am not asking for donations or money, if anyone contacts you saying they are raising money for the Purple Heart Project it's a scam. What I am asking you to do is contact your Senator or Congress Person and ask them to pass legislation that will award a Purple Heart to every member of our Military who has died defending this country on foreign soil by enemy fire or by accident.

Contact links for the President, the Vice President, the Secretary of Defense, your Congressman and your Senator are located at the top and bottom of every page of this website.
